IT ONLY SUCKS! - Pool Cleaner manufacturer threatens new Innovation with Litigation
by

As opposed to the standard skirt fitted to suction-side Pool Cleaners, which is predominantly smooth, this replacement skirt, known as the Pool SCOURA disk, includes nine Scotch-Brite scouring pads (a 3M product) on its lower working surface. According to Leon, the inventor of the Pool SCOURA disk, most swimming pool owners don't realize that with a typical 8 to 10 hour per day filtration cycle, their pool cleaner travels over 600 miles around their pool in a year. Hence their slogan: "If your Pool Cleaner doesn't have a Pool SCOURA it only SUCKS!"
As a further innovation, the 3M Scotch-Brite scouring pads are fixed to the Pool SCOURA disk with VELCRO for easy fitting and replacement. Claimed to effectively remove ALGAE, SCALE & STAINS from all swimming pool surfaces, the Scotch-Brite pad sets are available in three grades; Coarse, Medium, and Fine, to cater for all pool surfaces and conditions. Effectively putting a brush in the swimming pool permanently.
Leon claims that this "intolerance" on the part of Big Business, stifles innovative thinking and prevents many brilliant ideas ever seeing the light of day, to the detriment of the consumer. He also adds that by cutting out the traditional supply chain, his Company can offer this innovative new product to pool owners at 50% of the cost of a standard pool cleaner replacement skirt. To prove this claim, he's set up a web-site at http://www.ezPoolBrush.com/ where any pool owner can order the Pool SCOURA disk via a Secure Server for mail delivery anywhere in the world.

Note: The threats of litigation have subsequently been withdrawn and the Pool SCOURA disk is now protected by US patent No. 5,902,175.
